About MERFI

The 42st annual Mid-Eastern Regional Fly-In is August 23rd and 24th, 2008 at Mansfield Lahm Airport (MFD) Mansfield, Ohio. Since the 1960’s EAA members have held a regional fly-in in Ohio. MERFI is the second oldest EAA regional fly-in in the U.S. and this is the second year that MERFI will be hosted at Mansfield.

Events include: High quality forums, day long aircraft building trades demonstrations, airport campground, Scout Aviation Badge program, youth activities, pancake breakfasts, shuttles to local attractions and hotels and more. Click here for a layout.

Forums and aircraft building skills will be located inside hangars. Aircraft building skills will be demonstrated all day. Most MFD hangar owners are EAA members who are excited about MERFI coming to MFD. Relax in our Pilot Hospitality Tent. Meet old friends or swap tales with new ones.

Expanded Vendor Areas include large paved ramp spaces or outside tent areas. The MERFI web site will feature all vendors with links to the vendor’s websites.
The Mansfield community offers great local attractions, including Kingwood Center Gardens and the Historic Ohio State Reformatory as seen in the movie the Shawshank Redemption. MERFI kicks off with a Business After Hours at the airport Thursday evening August 23rd from 5-7pm.

It is quite literally true to say that the MERFI fly-in is a long term success story. The original fly-in was developed by the local EAA chapters who promoted the fly-in to the Mid-Eastern Regional community under the guidance of the EAA in 1965. Until August of 2003, the development of MERFI was controlled by a loosely organized community of volunteers. During the course of development, MERFI grew in complexity and ability and presented a number of awards to a wide following of loyal patriots.
